Advanced Piano Voicings Vol.1, 2, 3 & 4
This is a comprehensive practice method with exercises in all keys dedicated to advanced jazz piano voicings. By regularly practicing this workbook, you will learn advanced jazz piano voicings in all keys within the context of various cadences—such as 2-5’s and 2-5-1’s—and expand your jazz vocabulary by incorporating effective piano voicings in the genre.
While in vol.1, we studied a set of 12 advanced piano voicings; in vol.2, we will be practicing cadences with 2 or 3 chords; in vol.3 we take a deep dive on 2-5-1's in minor, backdoor progression reharms & upper structure triad pairs from the altered scale and the symmetric diminished. In Volume 4, we explore creative jazz piano voicings that defy traditional rules, stacking two unconventional structures to produce unique and otherworldly colors. We’ve included exercises for each cadence in all keys, an explanation of how the voicings are built, and guidance on how to think about them effectively in order to incorporate them into your playing.
A short melody harmonized, with all the voicings notated, is also included in several keys. Additionally, you'll find a lead sheet with the melody and chord symbols in all keys to practice playing the voicings by heart—an essential step if you want to truly incorporate these voicings into your playing.
